Educational Opportunities

Educational Opportunities

We have several opportunities for you to learn throughout the week and month.  Check our calendar for upcoming educational events.

Our activities are open to Jews by choice and by birth, from all backgrounds, and with a wide range levels of knowledge and experience. Friends from other religious traditions are also welcome to study Judaism with us.

All activities take place at Temple Israel of Greater Kansas City unless otherwise noted. Some of our Family Learning Days are held in different places around Kansas City.

Monthly Study for Children

Weekly classes for children from kindergarten through 10th grade. Pre-school activities are held on a flexible schedule. Classes will be taught by Temple Israel  members under the supervision of Education Director Margaret Lange and Rabbi Cukierkorn. Our school uses the nationally recognized Behrman House curriculum. Read more about our curriculum and schedule.

Family members and other adults are welcome to participate in all religious school activities.

Family Learning Day

This is a monthly specially-themed study for congregants of all ages, including children and their families on Saturday afternoons. 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

For example, in January, Rabbi Cukierkorn led a tour of the Nelson-Atkins Museum, reviewing specific artwork from a Jewish perspective. It was followed by an Art Workshop in the museum’s classroom.

Adult Education

We welcome our adult members and friends to join us for the several opportunities to study throughout the week and month.
